A GOOD SYSTEM SHORTENS THE ROAD TO A GOAL
-----------------------------------------------
Having an intelligent plan is your first step to success.
With a plan, you know where you're going.
You'll know what progress you're making.
And you'll have a pretty good idea of when you can expect to arrive.
Meticulous planning will enable everything you do
to appear spontaneous to other people.

Your goals can only be reached through the vehicle of a plan.
One in which you fervently believe,
and upon which you will vigorously act.
There is no other route to success.

What do you want to achieve or avoid?
The answers to these questions are your objectives.
How do you go about achieving your desired results?
The answer to this will be your strategy.

Initiative

by Dr. John C. Maxwell

It's cliche to say that every journey begins with a single step, yet it's true. Leaders don't wait for everything to be perfect before they move forward. They don't wait for all the problems or obstacles to disappear. They don't wait until their fear subsides. Leaders take initiative.

If momentum gets strong enough, problems begin to take care of themselves and new opportunities arise. But the benefits of momentum only come into play once a leader takes initiative.

As leaders, why are we sometimes timid or tentative when we should be taking action? In my experience and observation, there are six root causes of our procrastination.  more. . .

The Ubiquitous Tool

One might get the impression from our writings that goals and goal setting are a panacea. Not true! Goal setting is a tool, a tool that can be used in almost any situation or circumstance to get someone, or a group, from where they are, to where they want to be. Whether the desired outcome is an increase, decrease, improvement, modification or change of any kind, goal setting can help.

One of the most challenging issues our clients face is that of leader/follower behavior. Being the humans that we are, we take our attitudes and habits with us wherever we go. Ergo, what we learn and practice at home and in our social domain, we carry into the workplace. Frequently, this creates difficulties that impact the smooth functioning of our businesses and the workplace relationships required to lead, manage and follow appropriately. The  converse is also true. Learned workplace behavior will be with us on the outside. This applies to constructive and destructive attitudes and behaviors.

We're kicking off a public Showcase Leadership Development program in Mid-October. Five conference sessions of 2½ hours each will be held in the Plymouth Meeting/Fort Washington area of Philly.

The focus of this process is the mid level management group, though everyone can benefit. If you have one or two people in whom you would like to invest to ensure their future performance for your organization, contact us for more details.
